GREEN GLOBE CERTIFICATION

Our job is in the crossroads of Luxury and Tourism. As actor Inhabitant of Réunion Island, between these two spheres, we have the duty to join a responsible, coherent approach, and integrate the environmental, social and societal values at the heart of our managerial concerns.

Worried about the environment, and more particularly about the conservation of our island, Akoya Hotel ***** and Spa made a commitment in an approach of sustainable development to reduce the impact of its activity on the environment, protect natural resources and limit the pollutions. We chose to make validate our environmental performance through the Certification Green Globe, internationally recognized and dedicated to the sector of tourism. So, from its conception, to its exploitation, AKOYA hotel ***** and Spa knew how to integrate(join) subtly into its paradisiac frame diverse «green» realizations anchoring in this ecological dynamics, among which the choice of the used materials, the installation of solar panels, the plantation of endemic species as well as the raising awareness of its staff.

What are we doing ?

Our actions join completely the lineage of three pillars of the sustainable development, among which :

  • Organized electricity meters and water in strategic points of the hotel to follow the consumption and detect possible leaks.
  • Purchase successful computer hardware and with low electric consumption.
  • Implementation a preventive and regular maintenance of the air conditioning equipment and refrigeration.
  • Reduction of the production of waste and optimization of the sorting.
  • Limitation of individually packed products.
  • Improvement of the local environment.
  • Selection of fresh local products.
  • Use of ecological certified / certified cleaning products.
  • Use of LED bulbs or other energy-saving devise.
  • Provision and promotion of original and local crafts.
  • Promotion of the local «sports and cultural» activities as well as the historic, cultural and natural environment of Reunion Island. 

This approach concerns all those involved in the life of the establishment: The direction, the staff, the suppliers and the guests. At each level we can contribute to improve the environment. Our efforts are constant, and we hope that you will appreciate this approach, just like your stay to AKOYA hotel ***** and Spa. Any remark to improve our approach is welcome. Do not hesitate to speak to us about it at the reception, the concierge or by the use of the satisfaction questionnaires

How participate with us ?

During your stay, if you wish to help us in this environmental best practice, you can act as follows : 

Linen management :

  • An information note is left in the bathroom. Bath towels are replaced at your demand (if the guest suspends his towel, it means that he will use him it again for the next day).
  • For information, washing a towel can saved up to 6 liters of water and reduced use of cleaner.
  • The bed sheets are replaced every 2 days. 

Water economies :

  • The toilet flushes of the rooms and public places are adapted to reduce the water consumption.
  • The majority of faucets possesses mixer faucets.
  • Indicate us any leak detected in your room. We will intervene as soon as possible.
  • Think of putting switching off faucets during brushing your teeth or when you soap.
  • Prefer the shower to the bath. 

Energy saving :

  • Think of putting switching off the air conditioning when leaving the room.
  • Close windows if the air conditioning is on.
  • Think of informing the reception if a device does not work. We will intervene as soon as possible.

The Sorting of waste :

  • We take care of the recycling of your waste in every room.
  • We recycle your batteries at the reception.
  • Please do not put the worn batteries in the trash can, leave them on the desk of your room we will send them to an approved local sector.
  • For the breakfast buffet, serve yourself only the quantity of food you can eat to avoid the waste.
